Wasaga Beach Winter Nordic Centre
In the winter, the Dunes area of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park provides a spectacular 800 hectare backdrop to 30 kilometres of cross-country ski trails. You will ski through a mixed forest of oaks and towering pines and see a variety of birds and mammals on groomed and track set trails. We also offer an 8 kilometre skating trail. Wasaga Nordic Centre operates from 9 am to 5 pm daily.

Our mission, our vision and values reflect the aspirations of the communities we serve and the rich history and service of the YMCA over the past 160 years in Canada.
Each of our communities is special, each is unique, and each has a story to be told. Our region is enriched by our communities. The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka sees each Y as special and sees each person in it as an opportunity for participation and belonging.
We all are part of special places we call ours. That may be a village, town, city, region – or even a lake, a café or a park. Each community, each special place, is a part of who we are and what we aspire to be. For each of us, for those who work and volunteer with our Ys, and for those who use its services, we each have a YMCA that is special to us and to our community. We each have a “My Y.”
Wasaga Beach Summer Nordic Centre
The trail system at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is truly a rare find. Well over 50 km of hiking trails can be accessed from the Wasaga Nordic Centre (formerly Blueberry Trails Nordic Centre). You can use the ski trails for your summer hiking pleasure. Linkages to the Ganaraska Hiking Trail are accessible.
Among the highlights of these trails will be your journey through one of the rarest ecosystems in Canada - the pine-oak savannah. This ecosystem is globally imperilled due to development and the lack of natural fires. It is characterized as an open forest of oak and pine intermixed with prairie plants. Plants such as Butterfly Weed, New Jersey Tea, Big Bluestem and Little Bluestem are all species to look for when in these special places. The Pine Trail Guidebook provides more information about pine-oak savannah.
Our trails are in a section of the park known as the Dunes Area. Wasaga Beach's location at the southern end of Georgian Bay is the result of collected sand, which blows in with prevailing winds. Over thousands of years, a large series of sand dunes have developed. Some of the dunes that our trails travel through are over 40 metres tall.
