| Description | Wright has never let her condition dictate what she can and can't do. A member of the Board of Directors for the Harbour Channel Co-op, treasurer of the Toronto FM Communication Society, a member of the Board of Governors for the Canadian Electric Wheelchair Hockey Association, a member of the BWG Accessibility Advisory committee, a volunteer and a business woman self-employed in the IT sector for the past 16 years, she has now turned to municipal politics, and registered as a candidate for Councillor in Ward 1. "It's been an interest. I just never really had the motivation," Angie says, "but I feel that people are a little more receptive (to the idea of a person with a disability running for office). It might be 'prime time'." A resident of Bradford since 2003, she sees a number of issues in the coming election. Transportation is number 1, but also the rapid growth that threatens to overwhelm the character of the municipality. |

Meade Helman for Ward 4
My wife and I have lived in Canada for over 20 years, we moved here from the U.S., and have lived in Bond Head 12 years. Last February we took the oath to be Canadian Citizens. It was a very moving experience.
I think it was the worst day of the winter, lots of snow that wasn't getting cleared, very cold and ice everywhere. Despite this, 78 of 80 people scheduled to take the oath that day were there, and on time! They were from thirty different countries; all taking an oath to make Canada their home. Some of them had tears in their eyes as they took the oath and sang O Canada!
After the swearing in and the anthem, the judge who administered the oath told us how Canada had grown and became a great place to live because people helped each other. He told us that, as new Canadians, we should find ways to help others and contribute to our communities.
After much thought and reflection, and no small amount of urging from my wife, I decided to see if I can contribute to the town I live in, by serving on Council.

It’s time to put someone on Council who will stand up for Bradford, not the developers. On October 25, 2010, vote for Raj Sandhu, he’s on your side! -
