Simcoe County Quilter's Guild
The guild began in January 1984 with 18 founding members. These women wanted to establish a group that would promote quality in quilting and to also expand their skills. From that simple beginning, the guild has grown steadily.
Our membership has a broad base of novice and experienced quilters, who enjoy working in traditional and contemporary designs, using either hand or machine applications. We study a variety of techniques, both old and new, from simple to challenging. We are always eager to hear speakers discuss current trends and new techniques. We are also active members of our communities.
As a guild we have supported a number of worthy causes from Women and Children's Crisis Centers, lap robes for Seniors homes, Seasons Centre for the Grieving Children to our Cuddle Quilt program that is run in conjunction with the various police and fire departments in Simcoe County.
While some of us only produce one or two pieces a years, others are constantly working on their creations—all of us recognize the beauty of this art form and like to share our enthusiasm and expertise.
Cheri - selfproclaimedmuse
Starving artist, promising photographer and writer wannabe.\
A brain injury and the emergency of bipolar gave me a sudden overwhelming urge to constantly create. I express myself, sometimes subconsciously, through my art, usually in the form of abstract acrylic paintings of trees or some form of self-discovery. Sometimes the paintings flow easily and other times they sit for months until the clear picture is revealed to me.

GBACA - Georgian Bay Association for Creative Arts
A variety of music and art events in Collingwood, visit to see this year's list of events and workshops!
GBACA is an Art Association created in the early 1980's by the Blue Mountain School of Landscape Painting. They wanted other artists to know what was happening in their own "world of art". It was hoped that the artists might create various art activities. Surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Georgian Bay and the Blue Mountains, this rapidly growing group of talented artists now has regular shows which allow the GBACA members an opportunity to display and sell work to the public. Our current membership is 170 talented artists. GBACA also sponsors an annual show and sale each August in Collingwood, Ontario. This popular art and craft event attracts exhibitors and art lovers from all over Ontario.
